Biography

A Japanese pop group Zard was formed in 1991 by ex-model Sachiko Kamachi who changed the name for Izumi Sakai. She decided to cut off her past that’s why the girl shanged her name. Zard and Izumi Sakai can be interchangeable as she was the only one member of the band which didn’t leave. Other band members included Fumihito Machida, Hiroyasu Hoshi, Kōsuke Michikura and Kimitaka Ikezawa. Zard became popular with her debut single Good-Bye my Loneliness which was 9th on the Oricon chart. Later she produced 3 hit singles number one – Makenaide, Yureru Omoi and Kitto Wasurenai. You can download these Zard tracks in mp3 from our site. Sakai collaborated with many artists, like Field of View, Wands, Deen and Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng. Izumi Sakai died at the age of 40 in 2007 due to cervical cancer. Her fans still remember her and after her death several compilations were issued.
