Biography

Irish late-Victorian writer Oscar Wilde, full name Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde, was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Ireland and died on November 30, 1900 in Paris, France. He was born in the family of intellectuals and received a fine education. He showed his outstanding talent while being a child and soon he proved himself a great classicist. Wilde traveled to America, then moved to London and became one of the most known personalities of those days. He became one of the most successful and most popular playwrights of his era. However, his most well-known ouvre is his only novel The Picture of Dorian Gray. You can download Oscar Wilde’s novel in mp3 from our site. Wilde was arrested and imprisoned for “"gross indecency" with other men. After his release, he moved to France, changed his name and lived in poverty and loneliness till his death.
