Biography

The White Stripes is an American alternative rock/indie band from Detroit, Michigan. It was formed in 1997. The group consists of Jack White and Meg White. The band use a low-fidelity, do-it-yourself approach to writing and recording. Their music features a melding of punk and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The White Stripes achieved maistream success with their album, Elephant, which you may download in mp3 from our site. It produced the hits, "Seven Nation Army" and "The Hardest Button to Button". In 2004, the album won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, while "Seven Nation Army" won a Grammy for Best Rock Song. Elephant was ranked number 390 on the magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". In 2007, the band released their sixth and latest album, Icky Thump, which won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.
