American supergroup Transplants was formed in 1999 by Rancid member Tim Armstrong. Tim became inspired by loop and samples usage after he was introduced to London’s speed and garage scene. He asked his friend Rob Aston to provide him lyrics for his melody and at first Tim was playing all the instruments himself but later decided to form a full-size band. He was joined by Matt Freeman (Rancid), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers) and by Travis Barker (Blink-182). They recorded their debut album and released it in2002. The album Transplants got the critical acclaim and some singles became favorites on MTV. In 2003 the band split due to involvement of group members in their other projects but in 2004 they reunited for recording a new album Haunted Cities. Right now Transplants are on hold again.
