Biography

Transatlantic is an American progressive rock band that was formed in 1999 by Neal Morse (ex-vocalist/ex-keyboardist of Spock's Beard) and Mike Portnoy (drummer of Dream Theater), and currently consists of Neal Morse (lead vocals, keyboard, guitar), Mike Portnoy (drums, backing vocals), Roine Stolt (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Trewavas (bass guitar, backing vocals). They quickly gained popularity in 2000 with their debut album, SMPT:e, which yielded the singles, "October Winds", "Camouflaged in Blue", "Half Alive" and "Undying Love". After this release, they toured the United States to support SMPT:e. This tour led to a live album, Transatlantic Live in America. This album inluded their most successful song and several covers such as The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" and Genesis' epic "Watcher of the Skies" and "Firth of Fifth".
