Ted Nugent (birth name Theodore Anthony "Ted" Nugent) is an American hard rock and heavy metal guitarist and vocalist who gained popularity in the late 1960s as as the lead guitarist of the rock music band The Amboy Dukes. He was born on December 13, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He dropped the Amboy Dukes band name for good in 1975, and signed to Epic Records. In 1975, he released his self-titled solo debut album, which reached multi-platinum range. It also spawned the singles, "Hey Baby" and "Stranglehold". This album, produced by former IF-manager Lew Futterman and Tom Werman, greatly influenced the genres of rock and heavy metal.
