Biography

England-based alternative group Stereolab was founded in London in 1990. The group was formed by Lætitia Sadier (of French origin) and Englishman Tim Gane. They formed a songwriting duo and later added other musicians. The current line-up composes of Tim Gane (guitar, keyboards), Lætitia Sadier (vocals, keyboards, guitar, trombone), Andy Ramsay (drums), Simon Johns, Joseph Watson and Julien Gasc. There was one more long-term member – Mary Hansen. She died in 2002. The group has a quite rich discography and they have released 9 studio albums and participated in many compilations. They also released EPs and singles. The band is often called one of the most independent groups of the 90s. Their sound can be classified as post-rock. The band hasn’t achieved mainstream success. Their last album Chemical Chords reached number 7 on the Top Heatseekers. You can download this album by Stereolab in mp3 from our site.
