Scottish pop, rock, jazz and soul singer-songwriter and actress Sharleen Spiteri was born on November 7, 1967 in Bellshill, Scotland, the UK. Spiteri’s mother is a singer and her father is merchant seaman who plays guitar. Thus, little Sharleen was involved into music during her childhood. She grew up listening to different music like the Clash, Prince, Blondie, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. She was working a hairdresser when she co-founded the band Texas. The group has become very popular and reached the international fame with such hits like "I Don't Want a Lover", "Say What You Want", "In Our Lifetime", "Summer Son", and many others.
