Biography

André Rieu (birth name André Léon Marie Nicolas Rieu) is a Dutch violinist, conductor, and classical composer. He was born on October 1, 1949, in Maastricht, The Netherlands. He rose to fame as a founder of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, which comprises 12 members. The band is best known for performing classical works with a distinctly unorthodox frivolity and joking with the audience. He achieved mainstream success as a solo artist with his breakthrough album, Waltzing Matilda, which reached number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and produced several hits such as, "Waltzing Matilda", "Wiener Melange" and "Scarborough Fair". In 2009, he released his compilation album, Greatest Hits, which contained his most popular works. Now, you may download this compilation album in mp3 from our site.
