Biography

English rock musician and singer-songwriter Richard Ashcroft, birth name Richard Paul Ashcroft was born on September 11, 1971 in Billinge, Lancashire, England. Ashcroft is a founder of the rock band The Verve (originally Verve). The band is known for their successful album Urban Hymns and a hit single “Bitter Sweet Symphony”. Besides this, Ashcroft is known for his solo career. His debut album Alone with Everybody was released in 2000 to critical acclaim. The album was certified Platinum in the UK, reaching number one on the UK Albums chart. The album spawned such hit singles like “A Song for the Lovers”, "Money to Burn", and "C'mon People (We're Making It Now)". His next album Human Conditions was less popular with Gold certification.
