Biography

Synthpop band Red Flag was formed in San Diego, California, the United States in 1984. The band was founded by two brothers Chris and Mark Reynolds. The brothers grew up in Liverpool, England, but due to their father’s job they left England and lived in Montreal, then in Seattle and finally settled in San Diego. They began playing electronic music for the first time in 1982. Originally, the band was named Shades of May but later they changed it for Red Flag. Despite major opinion that it comes from the Soviet Union iconography, brothers insisted that it was taken from warning signal used in surfing. The band has released quite many albums. Mark Reynolds committed suicide in 2003 and the band went on hiatus until 2007 when Chris released his solo album under Red Flag.
