Ratatat is an American indie, electronic rock, alternative rock, house, electronic and post-rock act that was founded in 2001 by Evan Mast and Mike Stroud. They first met as students while their education at the Skidmore College. In 2001, they created electronic rock band entitled "Cherry". They recorded several tracks, which brought them a contract with XL Recordings label. After this deal, they began recording their debut album. Ratatat was released in 2004 and it produced two singles such as "Germany to Germany" and "Seventeen Years". This album received mainly positive critical acclaim. At the same year, they self-released Ratatat Remixes Vol. 1. They achieved mainstream success in 2006 with their second studio album, Classics, which yielded the band's most popular singles, "Lex", "Wildcat" and "Loud Pipes".
