Biography

American rock band Rare Earth was founded in Detroit, Michigan, the United States. The band was originally named The Sunliners and it existed under this name since 1960 till 1968 when the name Rare Earth was established. So officially, the year of the band’s formation is 1968 as it is still existing as Rare Earth. The original line-up composed of Gil Bridges (saxophone, flute and vocals ), Peter Rivera a.k.a. Peter Hoorelbeke (lead vocals and drums), John Persh a.k.a. John Parrish (bass guitar, trombone and vocals), Rod Richards (birth name Rod Cox, guitar, vocals)and Kenny James (birth name Ken Folcik, keyboards).
