Biography

American rock band Pylon comes from Athens, Georgia, the United States. The band was founded in 1978 by art students at the University of Georgia. The original line-up composed of Randall Brewley (guitar), Michael Lochowski (bass guitar), Curtis Crowe (guitar) and Vanessa Briscoe Hay (vocals). This line-up remained unchanged till 2009 when Brewley died of hart attack. The band has overcome two break-ups and finally they reunited in 2004. During their career, they opened for U2’s first US tour (first part) and toured with such bands like Mission of Burma, Love Tractor, R.E.M., the Talking Heads and others. R.E.M. was that group who helped the band to establish its name. According to R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry said that Pylon was the best group, not R.E.M. (1987, when R.E.M. was named America’s Best Band by Rolling Stone). You can download Pylon’s LP Gyrate in mp3 from our site.
