Biography

Puhdys is a German rock, folk rock and pop rock band form Oranienburg that was founded in 1969 and currently consists of Dieter "Maschine" Birr (birth name Köslin; guitar, vocals), Dieter "Quaster" Hertrampf (birth name Berlin; guitar, vocals), Peter "Eingehängt" Meyer (birth name Hohenmölsen; keyboards, saxophone, backing vocals), Klaus Scharfschwerdt (drums) and Peter "Bimbo" Rasym (birth name Bitterfeld; bass, backing vocals). Originally, the band was formed in 1965 as Udo-Wendel-Combo. They emerged on the German rock scene in the early 1970s with their debt self-titled album. Several years later, they released their most popular album, Rock'n'Roll Music, which was highly praised by critics and it also spawned the hits, "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", "Donna", "I'm Gonna Love You Too", "Good Golly Miss Molly", "Do You Want To Dance", "Hound Dog" and "Sheila".
