Biography

Otis Redding (September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967) is an American deep soul, southern soul and soul blues singer-songwriter. He was born in Dawson, Georgia, U.S. Today he is considered as one of the most influential soul musicians in the world. His style was influenced by soul music with elements of gospel and rhythm and blues sounds. He emerged on the American soul scene in the mid-1960 with his first album, Pain in My Heart, which led him to a deal with Volt Records. In 1965, he released two albums, The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads and Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul. The last one was a huge success. It also became his best selling and most popular album to date. It also spawned the hits, "Ole Man Trouble", "Respect", "A Change Is Gonna Come", "Down in the Valley" and "I've Been Loving You Too Long".
