Biography

George Orwell, birth name Eric Arthur Blair was a British journalist and author. He was born on June 25, 2903 in Motihari, India and died on January 21, 1950 in London. In his infancy he was taken to England and he didn’t return to India anymore. During his life he lived in many European countries, served in colonial police in Burma and took part in the Spanish civil war. He was known for anti-totalitarian position, he was anti-communist, anti-fascist and believed in democratic socialism. His best-known works are dystopian novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four” about life under totalitarian rule and novella “Animal Farm”, reflection of the Soviet Union after Russian Revolution and Stalinism.
