American ska punk band Operation Ivy was formed in Albany, California, the United States in 1987. The band was founded by Jesse Michaels (vocals, frontman), Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Matt Freeman (bass, backing vocals) and Dave Mello (drums, backing vocals). Operation Ivy broke up in 1989. However, they are considered a very influential band. They began to play ska, which was not so widespread at that time, like it is know. Moreover, they began playing revolution combination of the Jamaican ska and punk rock. Some critics called their music “ska-cor” as it was very speedy. The band reached the popularity quite quickly and was popular across the East Bay. They released only one studio album “Energy” in 1989 through Lookout! Records.
