Biography

Oingo Boingo was an American new wave and ska band from Los Angeles, California, the United States. The band was formed in 1972 under the name The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. It was shortened to Oingo Boingo in 1980 and to Boingo in 1994. The band broke up in 1995. Throughout the years, the band was fronted by Danny Elfman (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, percussion, sitar, programming, trombone, violin). Some other members are Leon Schneiderman, Steve Bartek and John “Vatos” Hernandez. The band was founded by Richard Elfman. Later his interests involved filmmaking and he gave up the band inviting his younger brother Danny to lead it. The band haven’t achieved the mainstream success though it was quite big on the underground scene. The only their album achieved a certification is Dead Man’s Party, it became Gold.
