Biography

American rock-folk-country band The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band comes from Long Beach, California, the United States. The band was founded in 1966 by Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, Ralph Barr, Les Thompson, Bruce Kunkel and Jackson Browne. The band’s line-up was not stable and it changed for many times after the formation. The current band’s line-up composes of Jeff Hanna – vocals, guiar, Jimmie Fadden – drums, Bob Carpenter – keyboards, accordion, bass, vocals and John McEuen – Banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin. The band was also known as The Dirt Band during some time. The band’s success is connected with their album Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Volume Two. The album was released in 1989 to general acclaim. It was certified Gold and earned two Grammy Awards. It was also Album of the Year according to Country Music Association Awards.
