Mirah, birth name Mirah Tom Yov Zeitlyn was born on September 17, 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the United States. She is an American indie rock singer-songwriter and musician. Mirah is of Jewish origin and her middle name means “good day” or “holy day” in Hebrew. She is also an open lesbian. Mirah began writing songs since her childhood and the first song was written when she was only four years old. She released her debut album in 1997. Traditionally she was a solo performer but since 2004, she has her own backing band, which composes of Nora Danielson, Dan Sasaki, Themba Lewis and Alex Yusimov. During her career, she has released quite a lot of records. The last her long play is (a)spera (2009).
