148. American R&B and soul singer-songwriter Michael McDonald was born on February 12, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made the first step to the wide popularity when he became a member of the band Steely Dan where he provided back up vocals and played keyboards on several tracks. In April 1975 he was recruited by Doobie Brothers as lead singer and thus he achieved the mainstream success. One of his most popular songs with Doobies is”What a Fool Believes” which earned him a Grammy Award for the Best Song of 1978. After Doobies had split he began a solo career and collaborated with various artists. His collaboration with James Ingram earned him his second Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
