Biography

Merle Ronald Haggard, known better as Merle Haggard was born on April 6, 1937 in Bakersfield, California, the United States. He is an American country music singer, songwriter, guitarist and instrumentalist. He is known as one of the creators of the so-called Bakersfield sound. During his life, he was in prison for many times, but he was pardoned officially for his great music achievements. He has received numerous awards including three Grammy Awards for the songs “Mama tried”, “Same Old Train” and “That’s the Way Love Goes”. He was inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, in Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and in Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
