Biography

Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock, dream pop, folk and indie rock band that was founded in 1989 as a collaboration of David Roback and Kendra Smith. Later, Hope Sandoval (vocals), Jill Emery (bass), Keith Mitchell (drums), Suki Ewers (keyboard) and William Cooper (keyboards, violin) joined the band. They emerged on the American alternative rock scene in the early 1990s with their debut album, She Hangs Brightly, which was certified gold and received critical acclaim. In 1993, they released their most commercially successful album, So Tonight That I Might See, which has been certified platinum in the US and spawned two hit singles such as "Fade into You" and "Into Dust". The album's lead track, "Fade into You", became their most popular and high-charting song, reaching number 44 on the Billboard 100 Hot chart.
