Marilyn Monroe (birth name Norma Jeane Baker, June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962) was born in Los Angeles, California, U.S. She was one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, she is frequently depicted and referenced in popular culture. After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, she began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. She starred in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire, and The Seven Year Itch. She gained popularity as a singer with the songs, "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", "Every Baby Needs A Da Da Daddy", "Bye Bye Baby", "That Old Black Magic" and "I Wanna Be Loved By You".
