Loverboy is a Canadian rock and hard rock band that was founded in 1980 by Mike Reno (former member of the band Moxy) was introduced to Paul Dean (former member of the band Streetheart). Later, Doug Johnson, "Spider" Sinnaeve and Matt Frenette joined the group. They quickly signed with Columbia/CBS Records Canada and after this deal, they began recording their debut self-titled album, which was released in 1980. It was a huge commercial success. The album also yielded the hit singles, "The Kid Is Hot Tonite" and "Turn Me Loose". Loverboy was praised by critics. In the early 1980s, they released their second album, Get Lucky, which was certified platinum four times in the US and three times in Canada. It also produced the singles, “Working for the Weekend", "When It's Over", "Lucky Ones", "Gangs In the Street", and "Take Me to the Top". Get Lucky became the band's best selling album.
