English rock band The Libertines comes from London, the UK. The band was formed in 1997 by Carl Barât (vocals/lead guitar) and Pete Doherty (vocals/rhythm guitar). Other musicians who were members for a long period are John Hassall (bass) and Gary Powell (drums). The band broke up in 2004 because of Pete Doherty’s drug addiction. The band’s music style can be describes as a fusion of indie rock with 1970s punk rock. The band was inspired by such acts like Sex Pistols, Oasis, The Jam, The Smiths, The Doors, Velvet Underground and others. During their career, they released only two studio albums. They achieved critical acclaim in 2004 with their eponymous album. It reached the top of the UK Albums chart and was supported by two singles - "Can't Stand Me Now" and "What Became of the Likely Lads".
