American science fiction and fantasy author Ursula Kroeber Le Guin was born on October 21, 1929 in Berkeley, California, the United States. She is one of the most celebrated women in the science-fiction and fantasy genre. She received Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Grand Master Award, there are only 3 women honored by this award including Le Guin. She has Bachelor of Arts from Redcliff College and Master’s Degree from Columbia University. She studied in Paris and met her future husband Charles Le Guin there. She earned the recognition after the publication of her science fiction book The Left Hand of the Darkness.
