Biography

American virtuoso instrumental rock guitarist Joe Satriani, birth name Joseph Satriani was born on July 15, 1956 in Westbury, New York, the United States. He is one of the most famous guitar players nowadays. He is the teacher of such great musicians like Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet, Larry LaLonde, David Bryson, Charlie Hunter and of many others. He was a lead guitarist of Deep Purple replacing Ritchie Blackmore who had left the band during the tour. However, Satriani left the band quite soon. He decided to embark on a solo career at the beginning of 1980s. However, the real breakthrough to the mainstream success happened with the release of his 1987 album Surfing with the Alien. Mick Jagger invited him to join his tour in Australia and Japan. Right now Satriani is the member of a supergroup Chickenfoot.
