English composer Gustav Holst, birth name Gustav Theodore Holst was born on September 21, 1874 in Cheltenham, England and died on May 25, 1934 in London, England. Since early age, he was learning how to play different musical instruments thanks to his parents who were also musicians. His father was organist and mother was a pianist. Holst had to leave piano because of nerve condition, which affected his play and decided to learn how to play trombone. He was growing in the world of English and world classics like of Oscar Wild, Bernard Shaw, Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Puccini. At the same time, he was very interested in ancient Indian culture, which inspired him to create several operas, like “Sita” and “Mahabharata”. His most famous work is a symphonic suite “The Planets”. Some others of his works are Hammersmith, St Paul’s Suite, Brook Green Suite.
