Canadian rock band The Guess Who was formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1965. The current band members are Jim Kale, Laurie MacKenzie, Garry Peterson, Leonard Shaw and of Derek Sharp. The band was founded Chad Allan and Randy Bachman and originally they performed under the name of Chad Allan and the Expressions. The band got the first success with a cover version of “Shakin’ All Over” which became a hit in Canada and reached the top 40 in the U.S. The band changed its name after the label Quality had written on the cover “Guess Who?” trying to make people believe that the record had been created by a famous band who had wanted to stay anonymous. In 1970 the band became the first Canadian band ever to top the American charts. The antiwar and according to some people anti-American song American Woman became the hit number one.
