Biography

American indie rock band Grandaddy from Modesto, California, the United States was formed in 1992 by Jason Lytle on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Kevin Garcia on bass and by Aaron Burtch on drums. Later, the band was joined by two more musicians – Tim Dryden on keyboards and Jim Fairchild on guitar. The band’s style can de described as folk and rock elements combined with experimental electronic sounds. As for lyrics, it’s usually about wildlife, robots and generally about isolation in a high-tech world. The first four band’s albums were self-released and the band singed only in 1997. The studio albums are Under the Western Freeway, The Sophtware Slump, Sumday and Just Like the Fambly Cat. The last album was released in 2006 and the same year, the band split up.
