American country-rock singer-songwriter Gram Parsons, birth name Cecil Ingram Connor III was born on November 5, 1946 in Winter Heaven, Florida and died on September 19, 1973 in Yucca Valley, California. He died of a drug overdose. His father committed suicide in 1958, he was World War II flying ace. His younger sister Avis died of cirrhosis caused by alcoholism. He adopted his stepfather’s surname (his name was Bob Parsons). Gram was interested in music since his childhood. He visited Elvis Presley concert in 1957 and was very impressed. After that, he embarked on his music career, which began when he was a teenager. He played in cover bands at first and later he joined such bands as the International Submarine Band, The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers.
