Garou, birth name Pierre Garand, born on June 26, 1972 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He is a French Canadian pop singer who rose to fame playing the role of Quasimodo in musical Notre Dame de Paris. Garou was noticed by Luc Plamodon in one of the bars in Sherbrooke while singing American blues. Plamodon was impressed by Garou’s voice. Thus, Garou appeared in the musical that changed his life. The musical soundtrack spawned a hit single “Belle” where Garou appears along with Daniel Lavoie and Patrick Fiori. After the musical, he decided to embark on solo career. The debut album Seul was released in 2000 and gained great success especially in France where the album was certified Diamond.
