Biography

American hip hop group The Fugees was formed in west Orange, New Jersey, the United States in 1993. The band members were rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean, rapper/singer/producer Lauryn Hill, and rapper Pras Michel. The name of the band comes from a mocking term for Haiti immigrants and Jean and Michael are from Haiti. They rose to fame in 1996 with a release of their hit album The Score which has become one of the main albums in hip hop genre. The album won several Grammy Awards and smashed the stores with sales of more than 18 million copies. The album yielded three hit singles – Killing Me Softly which was number one in the UK during 7 weeks, Ready or Not which used Enya’s Boadicea and No Woman No Cry, Bob Marley’s cover.
