An English composer Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronnet, born 2 June 1857, died 23 February 1934. He was also a conductor, violinist and a trainee solicitor. Elgar is mostly best known for his Pomp and Circumstance Marches which he wrote between 1901 and 1930. His famous works include Salut d’Amour (composed for his wife), Enigma Variations (his first major orchestra work), Symphony No.1, Symphony No.2 and Organ Sonata. He wrote piano accompaniment for many poems, music for numerous choral performances and arranged Bach, Chopin, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and others.
