American folk rock, pop rock and neo-psychedelia singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, birth name Edie Arlisa Brickell was born on March 10, 1966 in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas, the United States. She rose to fame when she joined the local folk band New Bohemians. The band quickly changed the name for Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. The debut album Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars quickly earned the band popularity and was certified 2 x Platinum in the U.S., reaching number 4 on the Billboard 200. The album was supported by a hit single “What I Am”. Brickell is also known for her solo career. She has released two solo albums Picture Perfect Morning (1994) and Volcano (2003).
