Biography

Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, birth name José Plácido Domingo Embil was born on January 21, 1941 in Madrid, Spain. He is a world wide known opera singer who received the international recognition. He debuted as opera singer on the stage of Mexico national Opera. When he was a child, his family moved to Mexico. In the 1960s, he debuted in the United States. During his career, he sang in such venues like New York City Opera, Metropolitain Opera, La Scala, and in many other famous Opera Houses. He sings in six different languages – English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Russian. He teamed up with two other famous tenors Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras and they created The Three Tenors concert. That gave him more international recognition.
