Biography

American New Wave band Devo, often spelled as DEVO or DEV-O, was formed in Akron, Ohio, the United States in 1972. The band was founded by Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale and by Bob Lewis. The current lineup of the band consists of Gerald Casale – bass guitar, bass synthesizer, vocals, Mark Mothersbaugh – lead vocals, mutated guitars, synthesizers, Bob Mothersbaugh (Bob 1) – guitar, vocals, Bob Casale (Bob 2) – guitar, keyboards, bass synthesizer, occasional vocals, engineer, Josh Freese – drums. The style of the band can be classified as punk, post-punk, art-rock but they are often associated with their early New Wave sound. The band is known to pioneer music videos, their first videos date back to 1973 when they were made by black-and-white portable video system.
