Biography

Boney M is a pop and disco group coming from Western Germany was formed in 1974. The group’s initiator was a record producer Frank Farian. He recorded and released a song Baby do You Wanna Bump? in 1974 under the stage name Boney M. The song had an unexpected success and made Farian to recruite singers for giving concerts. The original group’s line-up composed of Bobby Farrell (Aruba), Liz Mitchell (Jamaica), Marcia Barrett (Jamaica) and Maizie Williams (Montserrat). The group quickly gained more popularity and topped the European and South African charts. The first hit single “Daddy Cool” became number one in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and Norway entering the other charts as well. Farian’s right-hand Hans-Jörg Mayer created Boney M songs basing on the folk tunes from all around the world as they were non-copywrited.
