Bill Withers, birth name William Harrison Withers Jr. was born on July 4, 1938 in Slab Fork, West Virginia, the United States. He is an American singer-songwriter and musician performing in such genres like pop, blues, R&B and soul. He had a recording career since 1971 till 1985. During that time, he received three Grammy Awards and 2005 saw inducting him in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. Grammy Awards were all the times for Best Rhythm and Blues Song – “Lean on Me”, “Just the Two of Us” (with Ralph MacDonald and William Salter) and "Ain't No Sunshine". His other popular songs include “Use Me”, “Lovely Day” and “Grandma’s Hands”. During his career, he had two Gold albums – Still Bill (1972) and Menagerie (1977).
