Biography

American hip-hop artist Big Shug hails from Boston, Massachusetts. He is known as a part of the Gang Starr Foundation and as a close friend to one of its founder MC Guru. Big Shug and MC Guru are childhood friends and together were involved in street life and culture together. Big Shug was imprisoned and after the release he went to New York to join his friend who had already formed Gang Starr by that time. Big Shug contributed to every Gang’s album and made guest appearances on many other albums including the Militia albums. In addition, he began his solo career. In total, he has released three studio albums: Who’s Hard (2005), Streetchamp (2007) and Otherside of the Game (2008). The last album features many other rappers including DJ Premier, Bumpy Knuckles, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Termanology, Blaq Poet, and Singapore Kane.
