Biography

Bellowhead are an English folk and easy listening music band that was founded in 2004 by John Spiers and Jon Boden, and currently consists of Jon Boden (lead vocals, fiddle, tambourine, kazoo, whistle), John Spiers (melodeon, concertina, kazoo, vocals), Benji Kirkpatrick (guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, vocals, kazoo), Rachael McShane (cello, fiddle, kazoo, vocals), Paul Sartin (slide whistle, kazoo, vocals), Sam Sweeney (kazoo, vocals, whistle) and Pete Flood (percussion, frying pan, glockenspiel). They emerged on the British folk music scene in early 2004 with their first EP, Onymous, which brought the band a contract with Westpark record label. A year later, they won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. In 2008, they released their most successful alum, Matachin, which contained the band's popular tracks such as "Roll Her Down The Bay", "Vignette I", "I Drew My Ship Across The Harbour" and "Kafoozalum/The Priest's Miss".
