Famous and one of the best Hungarian composers Béla Viktor János Bartók known usually as Bela Bartok (in western countries) and as Bartok Bela in his home Hungary was born on March 25, 1881 in Austria-Hungary impire (now it is Romania) and died on September 26, 1945 in New York city, the USA. Though Bartok died in New York, now his remains are buried in Budapest. He studied piano under Istvan Thoman, the student of Franz Liszt . He was very much influenced by Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy and by Johannes Brahms. One of Bartok’s most famous works is the ballet Wooden Prince which gave him international fame. He also studied a lot folk music of different ethnicities and gathered a great collection containing about 30,000 songs by Turkish, Rumanian, Slovak and Hungarian peasants.
