English writer J.K. Rowling, birth name Joanne Rowling, current name Joanne Murray, was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England. She is best known for her Harry Potter book series. The Potter books earned her a great wealth and popularity all over the world. The books were screened and the Potter movies became one of the box-office leaders around the world. Before writing books, Rowling was an English teacher, worked in Portugal where she met her first husband, they have a daughter Jessica. The couple divorced and Rowling came back to England settling in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was in Edinburgh where she began writing her first Harry Potter book, writing sometimes in cafes.
