English author, journalist, teacher and historian Herbert George Wells was born on September 21, 1866 in Bromley, England and died on August 13, 1946 in London, England. He is considered to be one of the fathers of the science fiction genre along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback. He studied in the Normal School of Science where he showed his interest in socialism. He entered the Debating Society and later formed Fabian Society. He was one of the founders of the Science School Journal. The first edition of his famous work The Time Machine was published in this journal. He continued writing and his early novels has become the classics of science fiction literature – The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Invisible Man, The War of the Worlds.
