American indie folk band She and Him comes from Portland, Oregon, the United States. The band was formed in 2006 by Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. They met each other while working on the set of the film The Go-Getter. They sang duet and later kept in touch via e-mail. Deschanel wrote her own music and sent it to Ward. Thus, they decided to create a band and Deschanel moved to Portland where Ward was working in a studio. The debut album Volume One was released in 2008. It didn’t receive much of publicity and reached number 71 on the Billboard 200. The follow-up album Volume Two came out in 2010. It received critical acclaim from many medias including Allmusic, musicOMH, Alternative Press, Filter and others. The album spawned two singles – “In the Sun” and “Thieves”.
