British pop and R&B singer-songwriter Leona Lewis, birth name Leona Louise Lewis was born on April 3, 1985. Lewis auditioned for the third season of the popular TV series The X Factor and successfully won it. After the triumph, she decided to continue her professional music career and signed a deal with J Records. The debut album Spirit made Lewis a true international star. The album spawned a major hit single “Bleeding Love” which smashed the charts in many countries and quickly became number one. The album itself also became a sales hit and was certified Platinum in various countries. In the UK it was ranked 9 x Platinum.
