MC Lyte, birth name Lana Michele Moorer was born on October 11, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. She is an American rapper, actress, narrator and emcee-songwriter. Moorer began her recording career in 1986. Her older brothers helped her to produce her debut single and this earned her a contract with First Priority Music. She continued her successful career releasing hit singles. However, her popularity limited to the rap audience. Her only Gold album is Bad As I Wanna B. The album was supported by a very successful single "Cold Rock a Party" (featuring Missy Elliott and Puff Daddy). It reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 5 on the R&B/Hip-hop chart and number 1 on the Rap Track chart. The album also spawned two minor hits "Druglord Superstar", and "Everyday".
