Alvin and the Chipmunks are an American country, pop, Christmas music and children's music animated supergroup from Fresno, California that was founded in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. and the band's current line-up consists of Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., Janice Karman, Steve Vining, Randy Miller and Ali Dee Theodore. In late 2007, animated holiday comedy, Alvin and the Chipmunks, was released and it was produced by Regency Enterprises and Bagdasarian Productions. Although it did not received positive reviews from critics, but it was a huge commercial success. In 2008, it also became the seventh-best selling DVD. The soundtrack, Alvin and the Chipmunks OST, was released in 2007 and it debuted at number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and was certified platinum.
